Just a walk in our neighborhood. This cute Bushtit was curious and checking us out.

On a recent evening walk in Stanley Park, we were watching Great Blue Herons. They are common in Vancouver; there is a nesting site in Stanley Park. Several of them were treading the water’s edge in the Lost Lagoon.
Herons have good eye-sight, are very still, and have strong and flexible necks. These traits are excellent for catching unsuspecting fish below the water. The heron lurches into the perfect spot and waits.
We trekked through sand, heat and unpaved dirt terrain to see the majestic Laysan albatross of Oahu, Hawaii. Up in the north east tip of the island, Ka’ena point, far away from the bustling Waikiki beach is an oasis where the birds nest in peace.
From afar they look like the seagulls we see in Vancouver, but once you see them in person, up close, they are much larger in size with very different features.
